Writers I Admire: My Inspirations

Writing has always been an activity that I've enjoyed over my lifetime. Something about crafting beautiful words to inspire the next generation has kept me motivated toward my goal: Becoming a published author, but there are a few authors that have added to my motivation and they have all written some great books. By the end of the blog post hopefully, you are inspired by these authors like I was.

J.K. Rowling:

If you don't know who this beloved author is she is a British writer who wrote all 7 of the Harry Potter series and has inspired the Harry Potter movies. She has also written the Fantastic beasts series (which is personally my all-time favorite) Her imaginative settings bring her story to life. I especially like Hogwarts (the main setting of Harry potter) because of the rich scenery she describes and how when you read the book you feel like you're there. That's what a great author should do. Make you travel to all sorts of places without you even having to move.

Charles Dickens:

Charles dickens is an old author (he passed away in 1870) but his famous pieces of literature are around to this day. He wrote around 15 novels, 5 novellas, many short stories, and non-fiction articles. he was an all-rounded writer who not only focused on fiction but non-fiction as well. Some of my favorites that he wrote is A Christmas Carol that's about a man named Scrooge who has lost his Christmas spirit but gets visited by ghosts who attempt to change his perspectives. Another one of my favorites is Oliver twist. This novel is about an orphan (since birth) who spends most of his life in this "child farm" or an orphanage. The book is about his life and how many hardships he faces.

I won't give too much away about his books but I feel all if not most of his books teach the next generation important life lessons that I feel our society should recognize for frequently.

Chris Colfer:

He has written one of my favorite fantasy series "The Land of Stories." The characters in the book (Alex and Connor) are relatable to I think a lot of people. The way he incorporates old, classic fairy tales into his modern book shows how good of a writer he is. He uses Cinderella, Red riding hood, Jack from "Jack and the Beanstalk," Goldilocks, and many other characters you may know from classic fairytales and incorporates them in a way I haven't seen a lot in other books. His perspective and imagination are what make him an inspiration to me.

Jennifer Lynn Barnes:

Jennifer Lynn Barnes is a huge role model for me in the writing community. She has written many books but one of my favorite pieces of writing she has written is the Inheritance Games series. The mystery connected to the Hawthorne's (one of the main characters in the books) and the way Avery gets tied up with the whole mystery and romance in the Hawthorne family is truly magical. All the characters have their quirks and an interesting past which just adds to the suspense. All the riddles in the book make the plot even better.

In conclusion, I hope these authors inspire you as they did me and that it's okay to search for inspiration from your fellow authors. As long as you don't plagiarise this is a great way to get ideas. I want to end this blog post with a quote that sums up what I've said in a great way.
